Abstract
Objective: This study evaluates the validity of a short scale, which was developed by authors for screening Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in community-based mental health surveys.

Method: The study was a methodological research. Study group consisted of 127 subjects, who experienced lifelong at least one traumatic event. Subjects were recruited from Kocaeli University Medical Faculty Psychiatry and Psychological Trauma Unit. Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale was used as gold standart to evaluate validity of Kocaeli Short Screening Scale for Psychological Trauma.

Results: Statistically significant relation was found between Kocaeli Short Screening Scale for Psychological Trauma symptom severity and CAPS scores (r =.71, p<.001). It was pointed out that the sensitivity was 0.93, specifity 0.77, positive predictive value 0.59, and negative predictive value 0.97.

Conclusion: Kocaeli Short Screening Scale for Psychological Trauma has satisfactory specifity and sensitivity in predicting the diagnosis of PTSD. It is a valid instrument for wide scale mental health surveys.

?Kocaeli - Ruhsal Travma Kısa Tarama Ölçeği?nin (Kocaeli - Kısa) Geçerliği

Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmada Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu (TSSB)?nu toplum temelli çalışmalarda değerlendirebilecek kısa ve kolay uygulanabilir bir ölçeğin geçerliliğini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır.

Yöntem: Yöntemsel bir araştırma olarak tasarlanan çalışmaya en az bir travmatik olay yaşantısı bildiren 127 kişi katılmıştır. ?Kocaeli Ruhsal Travma Kısa Tarama Ölçeği?nin (Kocaeli-Kısa) geçerliğini değerlendirmek için Klinisyen Tarafından Uygulanan TSSB Ölçeği (TSSB-Ö / CAPS) çalışmada altın standart olarak kullanılmıştır.

Bulgular: ?Kocaeli-Kısa?da değerlendirilen belirti şiddeti ile TSSB-Ö puanları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır (r=.71, p<.001). ?Kocaeli-Kısa?nın duyarlılığı 0.93, seçiciliği 0.77, pozitif kestirim değeri 0.59, negatif kestirim değeri ise 0.97 bulunmuştur.

Tartışma: ?Kocaeli-Kısa? geniş ölçekli toplum taramalarında kullanılabilecek geçerli ve yeterli seçicilik ve duyarlılığa sahip bir ölçek olarak görünmektedir.
