A Survey on Haemo-protozoan parasites in buffaloes of Landhi Dairy Colony, Karachi-Pakistan.

Abstract
The Landhi Dairy Colony is located in the suburbs of Karachi. It has a dairy animals population of about 400,000 (around 95% buffaloes and 5% cows, as well as an unknown number of sheep and goats), with a daily yield of about four million litres of milk and 7,200 tones of dung making it world's largest dairy colony. The study was conducted to record the prevalence of haemo-protozoan in buffaloes of Landhi Dairy Colony Karachi. The results of present study revealed that out of 100 samples 14 were detected positive and the overall prevalence was recorded as 14%. The incidence of bloodparasites was higher in females (15%) than male (10%). The highest percentage of infection recorded was that of Anaplasma marginale (64.28%) followed by Babesia bovis (21.42 %) and Theleria (14.285%)
